So with a lot of my friends currently in college and worrying about mid-terms and finals, I began to think about what I could do to try helping from afar. Then I stumbled across, just the right idea: I would send them care packages! My mom sent me some when I was in my first year of college and I always loved receiving them. Care packages are such a great way to keep in touch with friends who go off to college, let them know that you care and send them a little pick-me-up for that mid-term slump.
Now my friends are all very different people and I wanted to personalize each one of these care packages and give you some ideas on what type of things you can put in your care packages–whether you are sending them to your son, daughter or your college friends! So stay tuned for this continuing series of different care packages that I’m going to be putting together.
The first thing I did was grab a Priority Mail, Medium Flat Rate Box. These are so great for shipping because that flat rate makes all the difference. There is an option between the square one and the more flat one, and personally I think that this one–the flatter one–fits more in.
One of my friends doesn’t really get care packages from home, so I really wanted to prioritize her first. She’s such a great, bubbly friend and always so animated, but I know this past year has been a bit rough on her in terms of getting the classes she wants and studying a lot. She’s one of my friends who has *fantastic* taste in guilty-pleasure food and I genuinely mean that. There are some people who you ask what their favorite candy or junk food is and it’s something strange like black licorice–I’m sorry, I could never wrap my head around why people like black licorice, that’s just me–but this girl always had a great choice of food when it came to watching school plays or movies. I know they aren’t the healthiest of foods, but she and I have also been doing the March calendar of blogilates together so we deserve it and in my experience, any college student can take a break from the cafeteria’s vegetarian food (for some reason, the best cafeteria options are always the vegetarian ones) to indulge in some guilty pleasure! I wanted to include some easy snack and microwave-able foods.
Inside this box:
- Some of her personal favorites: Cheetos Flamin’ Hot Crunchy, Sour Patch Watermelon
- A quick snack, I personally love these: Quaker Chewy Bar, Dark Chocolate Chunk
- Something to substitute for dinner on those long study nights: Microwave-able Rice Package
- I recently tried these and loved them so I had to include them so she could send me her opinion on them: Lay’s Kettle Cooked Jalapeno Cheddar
- Something to relax with and calm those exam nerves: Green Team w/ Honey Lemon Ginseng
I was really happy with this combination of snacks, because I just know it’s something she is going to like. But it still felt like it was missing something of a personal touch. And then I found this:
IT’S SO CUTE! I was so happy to have found this Monchichi toy because this is the exact toy that she would LOVE. Admittedly, there were normal Monchichi toys that were standing upright, but I found this one so endearing the way it looks like it is flying! So we added that in as well.
That completed our care package and off it goes to Baltimore! I have about eight more packages to personalize and send off, so I’d be sure to include different ideas and different things for each one of my friends and I’m really excited to be doing this. So comment down below and let me know what you’ve done or if you have any suggestions!
